The recent murder of Ahmed Hussein-Suale, an associate of award winning journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas has attracted world wide attention and condemnation, with many international media houses including BBC, VOA, CNN and Al-Jazeera reporting the news.
It’s in this view that US Congressman, Hank Johnson has written a letter to the US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo to request that the US government places sanctions on Ghanaian Politician, Kennedy Agyapong, including a travel ban in the US and a possible freezing on his bank accounts amongst others.
Kennedy Agyapong, Member of Parliament for Assin Central, made some reckless utterance on live TV some months ago, which might have had an influence or otherwise on the murder of undercover journalist Ahmed Hussein-Suale who worked with Tiger Eye Private Investigators.
He also suggested that the United States should deploy its security agencies to support Ghana with intelligence among other resources to investigate the murder.
Hank Johnson is the U.S. Representative for Georgia’s 4th congressional district and added in his letter that the value of Ahmed Suale’s work and America’s principles of freedom of the press warrant that it gets involved to promptly investigate the matter.
