Former Black Stars skipper Stephen Appiah has lost his mother whose sad event occurred on Saturday the 22nd of December, 2018.
Madam Comfort Afua Aidoo, 73, died just 2 days to her sons birthday and this led to Stephen Appiah canceling a commemorative gala which was to be played in his honor. The game would have seen a host of ex-Ghanaian and active internationals showcase their talent at the Wembley Park, Kotobabi.
The former Fernabache Star man took to his Instagram page to make the announcement. He wrote “Today is my birthday and I should be celebrating but instead I’m mourning. Mourning the very person who gives me so much love and joy. For I always see 24th December as a day to celebrate you instead of me because you made it possible.
“This day was never complete without me showing you how much I love and appreciate all you have done for me. There was no birthday without the kiss on your cheeks.
“Why you chose to leave me the same week I celebrate my birthday is what I’m struggling to understand”.
The tournament, which is being organised by Nuru Bremansu, was to mark the birthday of Appiah which falls on December 24.
Stephen Appiah was Ghana’s captain when Ghana first went to the World Cup in 2006 and sources close to the player revealed that the footballer was very close to his mother and is totally devastated by her demise.
