One of Ghana’s media giants Multimedia Ghana Limited, owners and operators of Joy FM, Adom FM, Asempa FM, Hitz FM and other outlets, has laid off over 100 workers.
This move has become necessary as the company is facing a lot of financial challenges, exacerbated by the novel Coronavirus pandemic.
Notable among those who were laid off by the company is Naa Ashorkor Mensah-Doku of Joy FM.
Naa Ashorkor took to Instagram this morning to make the news public which just was the tip of the iceberg.
However, information coming from yen.com.gh has it that about 100 workers of Multimedia are going to face the same fate as Naa Ashorkor by the end of the month.
One other big name set to lose his job is news editor of Adom FM, Sammy Duodu.
The company had reportedly been facing financial challenges in the months leading to the arrival of COVID-19; but things got worse with the onset of the pandemic.
In the past, workers have had to deal with delayed salaries and other inconveniences. So it took a lot of force before the company took this decision.
