The call for the legalization of marijuana is gaining grounds amongst several Ghanaians including celebrities and politicians alike. They believe that Ghana can gain a lot of economic benefits from the export of the herb.

Weed is currently considered illegal in Ghana and many think that its legalization will help decongest our prisons as some prisoners are behind bars because they were caught possessing or using the herb.

In the past, influential Ghanaians like Samini, Kwaw Kese, Kwaku Baako, the Late Kofi Annan and others have publicly declared their support for the legalization of the herb. The latest Ghanaian to add his voice to the call is ace broadcaster and host of Peace FM’s Kokroko show Kwame Sefa Kayi.

After his declaration, the “Political Police” show host Afia Schwarzenegger has announced the formation of an alliance to help push the agenda for the legalization of the drug.
