Armed Robbers get away with GH¢638,000 after attack on Absa Bank Bullion Van in Sunyani

An armed robbery attack on an Absa bullion van in the Bono East Region has left a police escort and two other workers injured.

During the attack, 8 unmasked robbers attacked the van and successfully bolted with GH¢638,000. The incident occurred whilst the money was being transported to Sunyani.

The armed robbers in a rambo style ambushed the van and injured the police officer on guard, Lance Corporal Yussif Abubakar, the driver of the van Frank Agyemang and  Sampson Kofi Sarfo, who was on “special duty” with the team.

They managed to abscond with a cash amount of GH¢638,000 as well as an AK 47 service rifle Number AZ 5522 loaded with ammunition and a police body armour vest.

The victims were immediately rushed to the Holy Family Hospital in Techiman where they received treatment for their wounds as the matter is currently under investigation.
