The new logo of Ghana’s Electoral Commission has been dumped for the original logo which bears the coat of arms and has a picture of a ballot box showing a hand casting its votes. The commission’s core values of Integrity, Fairness and Accountability have also been restored.
This was contained in a memo which was issued today by the new Chairperson Jean Mensa.
The EC also added that the most recent logo will be removed from the buildings and properties of the Commission prior to replacement of the old logo.
It will be recalled that Mrs. Charlotte Osei who replaced Mr. Afari Gyan prior to the 2016 general elections unveiled a new logo in place of the EC’s original logo and it generated a lot of debate amidst criticism of the logo.
Amongst the criticism were that the logo was not original and was of poor quality. They added that it did not communicate the functions of the Commission.
