Church of Pentecost bans lavish wedding ceremonies

        Apostle Eric Nyameke

Apostle Eric Nyamekye, Chairman of the Church of Pentecost has cautioned members of the church to immediately stop organizing very expensive and lavish weddings.

The Chairman made this known through a circular sent to all branches of the church worldwide and advised that weddings must be simple and inexpensive. The circular further urged prospective couples to always ensure that they organize very short engagement ceremonies so as to save cost and also abstain from pre-marital sexual relationships.

It reads “Pre-marital relationships, customary marriage rites (engagement) and weddings should be done modestly and decently to glorify God”.

“The church continues to hold in high esteem, chastity in marriage, and strongly frown on pre- marital sexual relationship between prospective couple…,” the circular continued.

Also contained in the circular was an encouragement for Elders to attend engagement ceremonies of members, although it is seen as a private ceremony for family members. These measures which have been outlined to make the church very attractive to the youth especially received massive approval from member of the church when it was read out during church service over the weekend.
