As part of measures to curb the spread of coronavirus in the country, the President has granted Presidential pardon to some deserving prisoners across the country.
In a press release signed by Director General of Prisons Patrick Darko Missah, the President upon the recommendation of the Prisons Service Council and in consultation with the Council of State took the decision to grant amnesty to Eight Hundred and Eight (808) convicted prisoners.
They include 783 first offenders, 11 seriously ill prisoners, 7 inmates on death row to be commuted to life imprisonment and 3 prisoners who are very old.
