The President of Ghana Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo during his 6th address to the nation on the COVID-19 Updates has announced some waivers to electricity bills which many Ghanaians have since applauded.
During his address to the nation last night, the President stated that the government was absorbing the full electricity bills of users using between 0 – 50 Kilowat Per Hour of power.
For other domestic consumers and industry, the President announced a 50% waiver of their electricity bills. This waivers take immediate effect till the next Three (3) months (April, May, June).
This announcement comes on the back of government’s decision to absorb the full water bills for domestic consumers.
During his address, the President also announced a One (1) Week extension of the lock down in Greater Accra and Greater Kumasi regions. This is to enable the front line workers and government continue the monitoring routine to ensure that the COVID-19 pandemic is brought under control.
Ghanaians have since taken to social media to applaud the President for his decision to absorb part and full electricity bills of the citizenry in these hard times where people’s livelihood have been deprived from them.
