The President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo-Addo has with immediate effect dissolved the governing council of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
An interim council was sworn-in after the old council was dissolved. The Presidency has also ordered that school activities should be returned to normal within 14 days.
Members of the dissolved council include Prof. Emeritus Kwame Sarpong, a government nominee and the Chairman for the Council, Prof. Kwasi Obiri-Danso, the Vice Chancellor of the university, Dr. Charles Kwabena Boadu, Dr. Osei Kwadwo Kankam, Abena N. Antwi, all government nominees, Prof. Isaac Kwame Dontwi, Abraham Poku-Adu, Charles Arthur, Dr. Edward Baffoe Bonnie, Pak Abdul-Aziz D. Kokpi, Dr. Isaac Dadzie, Prof. Eric Kwabena Forkuo of UTAG, David Dannah, SRC and Eunice Akosua O. Amoako.
It will be recalled that authorities of the school closed down the university after violent protests by the student body occurred on Monday. This resulted in the destruction of school property including 35 vehicles.
