John Dumelo has gladly received the news of parliament’s decision to discontinue the construction of a new 450-seat chamber.
There was wide spread public disapproval from Ghanaians after it became public knowledge that parliament and its leadership were preparing to construct a new chamber.
Some legislators mostly from the minority including the Member of Parliament (MP) for North Tongu, Mr Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa; Ras Mubarak, MP for Kumbungu and Tamale North MP Alhassan Suhuyini, strongly condemned the move.
Some majority MP’s too including Samuel Ayeh-Paye, Ayensuano and Mr Patrick Boamah, Okaikwei Central, also condemned the idea.
According to a statement released on Monday, 8 July 2019; “The board, has, upon reviewing presentations made to it by well-meaning Ghanaians, accordingly taken the development out of its present agenda.”
And John Dumelo has received the news with gladness. He tweeted; “I’m glad parliament has finally decided to drop the chamber. Well done to the millions of voices out there who fought for this. Together let us make Ghana a better place.”
