Black Stars head coach, Charles Kwablan Akonnor, has been commended by his former boss, Kwesi Appiah, for guiding the senior national team to qualify for the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2021.
It will be recalled that in 2019, Kwesi Appiah was at the helm of affairs when Ghana played against South Africa and Sao Tome and Principe in Cape Coast and Sao Tome as the Black Stars won both games handing them six points in Group C.
However, the former Al-Hilal coach’s contract with the GFA expired and decided to take a long break from football due to the enormous pressure that comes with the job.
Coach Akonnor was immediately given the mantle to qualify the four-time African champions to the tournament which has been postponed to January next year as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
The Black Stars under the tutelage of C.K managed to win two matches, drew once and a defeat against Sudan in Omdurman, earning the team seven points in addition to the initial six points making it a total of 13 points to top the group.
It is in lieu of this that Kwesi Appiah has seen the need to commend C.K Akonnor and the entire playing body for a good job done.
