Member of Parliament for Nadowli West Constituency and candidate in the Presidential primaries of the NDC, Alban Kingsford Sumani Bagbin has stated that the NDC he knows is never a violent party.
In a post on Facebook, and in response to John Dramani Mahama’s statement that “no other political party can beat the NDC when it comes to violence”, Mr. Bagbin stated that with such comments coming from Mr. Mahama, he is not surprised that the NDC lost the 2016 election miserably.
The by-election at the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency turned violent in one polling station when clashes occurred between the security officials on duty and some members of vigilante groups belonging to the ruling NPP and the NDC.
Six persons were rushed to the hospital for various degrees of injuries including gun shot wounds and knife cuts.
Addressing members of the NDC in the Adaklu Constituency in the Volta Region during his campaign tour to seek re-election to lead the party, he said “We are not going to joke in 2020 and I’m sounding a warning to the NPP – we are going to match them boot for boot”.
