Legon cites shared spoils with Medeama on matchday three of the Ghana Premier League at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday night
Legon cites after losing their second game against Accra Great Olympics in Accra Sports Stadium came in with high expectations to pick up the three maximum point but were denied by the visitors.
The home side started the game with high pressing football with more pressure into the defense of the visitors but were not able to convert the numerous chances created into a goals. Medeama lifted up their game and created decent chances but weren’t enough to put all those chances into net of Legon Cites.
A Free kick from Nathaniel Acquah in the 5th minute was brilliantly saved by Medeama’s goalkeeper Ofori Antwi who flipped the ball from the goal post.
Yusif Ouattara on the 9th minute launched a long pass from the left for Abdul Basit get his head onto the ball but couldn’t direct it into the net.
25th minute, a stupendous free kick from Eric Kwakwa was saved by Fatau Dauda in the post for home side.
Legon cites came closer in the 36 minute with a long pass from Cephas Doku to Rafael Ocloo but the visitors defense was resolute enough to the attack. On the 40th minute, a free kick on the edge of the 18 yard box by Nathaniel Acquah was expertly taken with Ofori Antwi pulling another breathtaking save ending the first half with no goals.
The second half was delight to watch as both coaches varied their tactics and both players playing in to setting pattern. Goalkeeper Ofori Antwi made a brilliant save for Medeama on the 53rd minute, long drive from Rafael Ocloo of Legon Cites.
The introduction of Ghana’s all-time leading goal scorer, Asamoah Gyan came as a booster for the Royals who put some decent passes together in search for a winner to mark the debut of the legend.
A 72nd minute free kick by Patrick Yeboah into the 16 yard box found Ebenezer Ackhabi who Blasted the ball over the goal post.
On the the dieing embers of the game Agyenim Boateeng made a good run of the ball into box of Legon cites but he failed to convert the ball into the net. Which as a result ended the game in a stalemate after 90 minutes of soccer fiesta at the Accra Sports Stadium.
