The Minister for Education, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh has ordered a private contractor who has encroached lands belonging to Prempeh college to stop working on the land with immediate effect.
During a working visit to the school in the Ashanti Regional Capital Kumasi, the Minister went round the school with some chiefs and opinion leaders to familiarize himself with happenings in the environs, as the Prempeh College Basic schools complex had complained of encroachment for a long time. The Minister was concerned that if the chiefs sold all the surrounding lands, it won’t be possible for expansion of infrastructure in the future.
Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh then ordered the developer to cease all works and has with immediate effect dissolved the Board of the school. An Interim Management Committee will be set up to run affairs of the school till a new Board is set up.
