The National Communications Authority (NCA) has fined telecom company MTN Ghana a total of GHC110,000.
This fine has become necessary after customers of MTN complained of being unable to load bundles. And for those who were successful with loading the bundles, they were given far less data than they were supposed to get.
MTN has the largest number of customers for a telco operating in Ghana. And after complains from some aggrieved customers, the NCA stepped in and ordered the telco to reimburse customers for the data loss. MTN was also required to submit a report to NCA as to what actually caused the discrepancies.
But MTN has since failed to meet the deadline for the submission of the report.
As a result, NCA has announced a number of sanctions on the company and given them a directive to comply or face further sanctions.
