Ex-National Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Kwabena Adjei, has died at age 76.
According to a reliable party source, he passed on early Tuesday morning at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital (formerly Ridge hospital).
Dr. Kwabena Adjei was the chairman when the NDC won power in 2008 and has been battling a protracted illness which first got to the media in August 2015.
Dr. Adjei acquired a PhD in (Research Methods and Statistics in Psychology) from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, Scotland, U.K in 1973. He then ventured into politics by getting elected as a Council Mmember of the Jasikan District Council in the Volta region in 1978.
The Psychology lecturer lost a bid for a third tenure to Kofi Portuphy after winning 2 previous National Chairmanship elections in 2005 and 2009.
Dr. Kwabena Adjei died just three days after celebrating his 76th birthday on March 9, 2019.
