The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress, Asiedu Nketiah has opined that the NPP has activated rigging machinery by way of intimidating people in the Volta Region.
A joint task force of the Ghana Armed Forces, Ghana Police Service and Ghana Immigration Service has been assigned to man the Ghanaian borders in the wake of Covid-19 to avoid any illegal immigrants into the country but the NDC is of the opinion that it is a deliberate attempt to prevent people of Ketu South from registering in their numbers.
According to the Chief Executive of the largest opposition party who was speaking on Adom TV with Jerry Forson (CJ), some people have been beaten by some police personnel in the region to deter others from registering at Ave-Dakpa.
He alleged that the Divisional Police Commander told him some people were arrested and arraigned before the court but were acquitted and discharged so the police have decided to use their own approach by way of beating non Ghanaians who attempts to register.
It will be recalled that the NDC challenged the EC’s decision to open a new register in a series of demonstrations and later headed to court to seek redress but the court presided by Justice Annin-Yeboah quashed the NDC’s claim. The NDC have since implored its supporters to turn out in their numbers to register.
