According to Egya Adu, Obinim took ill just a day before his arrest and was on a short admission at the hospital, even though hospital staff let him go.

He stated that on the day Obinim was arrested, the policemen after seeing his condition agreed they will escort him to the hospital at East Legon for treatment. And they cautioned him to report to the police station after seeing his doctor.

So after he left the hospital, he (Obinim) reported himself at the police station on Tuesday, 19th May 2020. He went to write his statement but he was later handcuffed and taken to Kaneshie Circuit Court 1.

Egya Adu added that even after the judge had granted their pleas for bail and given the bail conditions out (GH100,000 with 3 sureties), the police intentionally refused to grant them the bail although they had met all the bail conditions.
