PRESS RELEASE: The Electoral Commission clears the air on Ayawaso West Wuogon violence

The Electoral Commission in a Press Release signed by the deputy chairperson in charge of corporate affairs Dr. Bossman Eric Asare has denied that a photo collage of the EC Chairperson with some armed men was taken after the violence marred by-election at the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency.

According to the Press release, the the said picture was taken on the 31st of January 2019 when the EC Chairperson was invited to the studios of Class FM in Accra for a short interview. 

The press release added that the picture is one of many that the EC Chairperson took with staff and visitors at Class FM, and so the picture was only circulated to calculatedly associate the EC boss to the violence that occurred at the residence of the NDC candidate during the by-election.

The Press Release has urged “all Ghanaians to disregard these photos and similar photos and videos of posted on social media, recognizing them as acts of mischief intended to discredit the EC as a body”.
