Controversial lawyer, Maurice Ampaw has stated that he is disappointed in the Ghana Police Service for delaying action against Rev. Obofour.
According to him, the Police should severely discipline Reverend Obofour to serve as a warning to other pastors.
He was speaking during a recent interview with Boamah Darko on Hot 93.9 FM whilst addressing the arrest of Rev. Obofour by the Ghana Police Service. This was after Rev. Obofour ordered someone to smoke weed in his church.
Lawyer Maurice Ampaw bemoaned the ‘snail pace’ action against the man of God. He stated that the Police should have acted long ago: because some Ghanaian Pastors are engaging in criminal activities with impunity; and this is having a negative effect on Children.
He said; “I’m extremely disappointed in the Police because we shouldn’t have started a campaign before they arrest him. Most Pastors of today are engaging in criminal acts with impunity. The things they do in their churches are sometimes insulting and provoke people, disturbing public peace; all these are captured on social media which affects the minds of Children”.
He further stated that because no one is monitoring Rev. Obofour’s actions, he has become so arrogant and have deviated from doing the work of God.
“Rev. Obofour is becoming swollen headed; he is deviating from his calling because of arrogance to the extent of saying “overtaking is allowed; Smoke the weed, no one can do you anything”; how dare him? He should be punished severely to let other pastors know that they are not above the law,” he added.
