Gyedu-Blay Ambolley, originator of Simi-rap style, has stated that Dancehall artiste Stonebwoy should stop the Dancehall genre he is currently doing.
According to Gyedu-Blay Ambolley, Stonebwoy should rather promote music from the Volta Region; this will better sell his identity and culture to the world.
During an interview with Ghanaian blogger, Attractive Mustapha, Gyedu-Blay Ambolley made reference to Stonebwoy’s track with Sean Paul, ‘Most Original’.
Since Sean Paul sang in his native Jamaican Creole ‘Patois’ which identified his roots, Stonebwoy didn’t speak any Ghanaian language.
Gyedu-Blay Ambolley also hit at the current crop of young Ghanaian Musicians, especially those doing hiplife, explaining that they have lost focus and are currently doing meaningless songs.
He told Attractive Mustapha that tracks like “Angela’ by Kuami Eugene don’t carry any message or bearing with our culture.
