Thirty Four (34) persons have been confirmed dead in a gory motor accident at Dompoase near Komenda in the Central Region.
The accident reportedly occurred around midnight on Monday, January 13 involving two big buses. According to eye witnesses, one of the buses was travelling from Takoradi towards Accra with registration number GR 5704-18 whilst the other with registration number GN 3780-10 was moving in the opposite direction.
An eyewitness told Connect FM’s morning show host Nhyiraba Paa Kwesi Simpson that the Takoradi-bound bus attempted overtaking another car, but ended up colliding with the bus from the opposite direction.
Both drivers died on the spot with one of them having his head completely chopped off. His body was trapped in the mangled vehicle.
It took the efforts of the dedicated personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) from Cape Coast to save the lives of some of the injured while the mutilated bodies of dead passengers were conveyed in vehicles to the hospital.
