Top American rapper, Chance The Rapper, is getting ready to visit Ghana as part of the Year of Return initiative. This follows BET Award winner Sarkodie’s speech after his win.
Delivering his victory speech, Sarkodie dedicated the award to his daughter (Titi); and also used the moment to urge Americans with roots from Africa to take a trip back to Africa, especially Ghana the motherland. The Year of Return celebrations is being championed by Ghana’s Ministry of Tourism.
He said; “I just want to say thank you to the Almighty God. To family, this one is for my lil girl Titi…. I think Africa has always had it and it is about that time. This year is the Year of Return and I will urge each and every one of you here to take a trip back home.”
Many have linked Sarkodie’s speech at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Georgia to Chance The Rapper’s intent to visit Ghana; especially because he added the hashtag “#HipHopAwards”.
