The Business and Executive Committee of the University of Ghana has interdicted Professor Ransford Yaw Gyampo and Dr. Paul Kwame Butakor after the two were featured in BBC’s S*x for Grades undercover documentary in some West African Universities.
This was contained in a press statement with reference NR/PAD-08/2019 and titled “RE: BBC DOCUMENTARY ‘SEX FOR GRADES’ UNDERCOVER IN WEST AFRICAN UNIVERSITIES”.
According to the University of Ghana, they place great importance on issues of sexual harassment and misconduct, and condemn any of such acts.
Hence, Professor Ransford Gyampo and Dr. Paul Kwame Butakor will be invited by the University’s Anti-Sexual harassment committee in the next few days to assist with further investigations into the BBC Documentary.
The statement further stated that if the two lecturers are found guilty, they will be punished according to the University’s policy on anti-sexual harassment which may include dismissal.
Professor Gyampo was captured in one scene in the video asking his female research student bait if she had ever been kissed violently before. And he has maintained that he is innocent of any s*xually inappropriateness since the video was released by BBC.
However, Dr. Butakor is yet to make a public statement on the matter.
