It seems that we are not going to see an end to the ‘war’ between dancehall artiste’s Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy as another showdown took place at this years’ Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
Stonebwoy was on stage to receive his Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year Award when Shatta Wale and his militants rushed onto the stage. Not sure of what would happen, Stonebwoy immediately pulled out a gun.
Security officials at the newly constructed Dome started spraying patrons with pepper spray and guests at the VIP stand were quickly rushed out.
The show halted temporarily in the midst of all the commotion and some patrons decided to leave the auditorium.
Stonebwoy has won this category consistently for 5 years in a row; Reggae Dancehall Artiste of the Year.
Rev. Mrs. Mary Ghansah, Prof. Kofi Abraham and Obuoba J.A. Adofo were given Lifetime Achievement Awards.
Shatta Wale’s ‘My Level’ and ‘Gringo’ songs won the Highlife Song of the Year and the Reggae, Dancehall Song of the Year respectively.
Rapper Sarkodie won the biggest award on the night, the Artiste of the Decade.
