According to him, sticking to a 4-4-2 or 4-5-1 formation will not help the course of a team. The coach who steered the Black Stars to a 2 nil victory over their South African counterparts in the 2021 AFCON qualifiers explained that a team cannot stick to a tactical style of play when they have possession, and play the same style when they have lost the ball.

Coach Kwesi Appiah further stated that when a team loses the ball for example on the left side, the midfielder on the right side has to step and the second striker also has to drop to support the teams defense.
