Ghanaian Dancehall King Shatta Wale got into a fierce tussle with Charterhouse, organizers of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards in 2013.
Well, according to Shatta Wale, he was not okay with the fact that a foreigner will come to Ghana to set rules for Ghanaian musicians; it got so messy that the CEO for Charterhouse who also owned GhOne at the time ordered that Shatta Wale’s songs should not be played on their TV station again.
This fight led to him being banned from the event for the next 6 years after he burst out of the 2013 VGMA’s after he lost out on an award. Shatta Wale did not participate in the VGMA’s until the CEO for the scheme Theresah Ayoade came calling on the “entertainment prefect” to come join the scheme to make the brand stronger.
Well, his return saw the VGMA’s returning bigger and better. However, the rest is history as himself and Stonebwoy are currently suspended indefinitely.
