Ghanaian Afrobeat sensation Francine Nyarko Koffi aka Fantana has addressed accusations against her, describing her an an ex-convict for being arrested and convicted of theft in America.
The artiste signed to Ruff Town Records was speaking during a recent interview on Peace FM’s “Entertainment Review” show where she explained that she got involved in a fight with her roommate in school at the time in America. After the encounter, her roommate reported her for throwing her (friend’s) bracelet away during the scuffle.
She was responding to a news that went viral some weeks back that she was once arrested in the US. On the prison document, the name Francine Nyanko Koffi was referred to as a “West Palm Beach Arrest Inmate”.
Further information on the document showed that Fantana was charged for “Larc grand theft 300 less than 5K Dols” with a $5,000 surety bond; and was released on November 14, 2017.
But according to Fantana, she was jailed for less than 8 hours and released; not that she was convicted and imprisoned as it is being speculated in the media.
“When someone is convicted they serve a time. I didn’t even step in the courtroom to be convicted. I had a lawyer but I didn’t step in the courtroom because I haven’t been in trouble before. So I was just in there for less than 8 hours and I came out”.
