Youth Employment Agency, NSA  sign six months extension of Government athletes support


The Youth Employment Agency (YEA) on behalf of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and Government has signed a six months contract extension of Government’s support to Ghanaian athletes numbering up to 1,000 with the National Sport Authority (NSA).

The contract extension was signed by heads of the two agencies, Lawyer Justin Kodua of YEA and Prof. Peter Twumasi of the NSA yesterday.

The contract extension is due to the initial six months agreement between the parties which started in September 2020 elapsed in February 2021.

The YEA as part of Government initiative to alleviate the plight of athletes in Ghana during the peak of coronavirus went into an agreement with the NSA to provide a GHC 500,00 monthly stipend to 1,000 athletes.

Present at yesterday’s contract extension was the Minister for Youth and Sports, Mustapha Ussif, coupled with other sector dignitaries.
